Why should we have to learn Spanish when this is an English speaking country?

mizzhollywood26 asked:

I say if Spanish speaking people are going to come over here, they should have to learn English. Not the other way around.
in school growing up, we are required to Spanish.
even in college for majors. I’m 26, and I remember looking at some majors that you would least expect that would require spanish classes.

Why do most Spanish teachers just speak Spanish in their classes?

Don’t you have to learn the vocabulary before you learn the language? What is the best way to learn Spanish? Could a person learn spanish by just listening to Spanish without knowing what the words meant?

I Want To Learn Spanish

I need hints on learning to speak Spanish?

♥Gringa♥ asked:

I have tried many things. I have purchased Rosetta Stone, various verb/action books, short phrase books, I have taken a Continuing Education Class (dropped out, it was supposed to be Community Speaking but not enough people signed up, they put me in a class they teach Police Officers) I listen to 99.1 radio station which is all spanish music, when possible I watch movies in Spanish with English subtitles, etc. I have been trying for over 2 years and I can’t retain it. When I am doing my Rosetta Stone, I score very high on my tests, but when I turn off my computer and come back the next day, I have forgotten most of what I have learned. I start Spanish classes Monday at my local community college, I paid a lot of money because it is a credit class and I was hoping for some words of wisdom from you guys so I can actually retain the information. I can retain a few words, but I can not form correct sentences. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Gracias y Que tengas un muy buen dia.
