Today my boss told me that one of the fellow employees did not want us (me and 1 other Hispanic employee) speaking Spanish at work anymore.
So he came in the office and caught me speaking Spanish, he then yelled in from of everyone that I work with “No More Speaking Spanish!” “people who don’t understand think you are talking crap on them!”
Is this legal? In California?

Is there anything I can do?

Do I have any rights here?

Since I speak Spanish also, I thought it would better my chances of being hired — what do you think? And would I get paid more?
Karen, we prefer to be called Latinos. The word Hispanic was given to us by Nixon in trade for something, and we don’t like it because it is an epigram for Sp*c. But thanks.
