What do you think about me as a white american speaking spanish?

I been practicing speaking spanish for about the past couple years and I can pretty much speak it fluently, and I’v communicated with different people who are from different spanish speaking countries and I found that mainly its just most puerto ricans who have trouble understanding me, but however, pretty much everyone I spoke to en spanish from most other countries, like I spoke in spanish to people who are from Mexico, Colombia, Honduras, Dominican Republic, panama, and they all understand everything I say.

Who cares if you’re white? Speaking another language just means that you aren’t an ignoramus who thinks that you can get through life just knowing English, like so many Americans seem to. Kudos to you.

why not expand yourself?
its really a great thing to learn new languages and expand your horizons.
its also quite great for a lot of career tracks.
perhaps puerto ricans have different dialects. in my experience they have a lot of different words or like slang terms i guess youd call it. i understand a bit spanish( it was my first language.) and i had difficulty understanding puerto ricans and dominican for the longest time. but after i had a teacher from the dominican republic i was able to understand them more, but i still have trouble with puerto ricans.

Maybe people in Puerto Rica speak a different type of Spanish. I’m sure Spanish between Spain and South America differs quite a bit, and maybe there’s another gulf between S.America and Puerto Rica.
