I believe the vast majority of the Spanish speakers in the US are Latin American type Spanish. Very rarely do you hear Castilan Spanish. Even the media (Spanish TV , radio) are Latin American type. Yes you would sound different .

Spanish pronunciation (from Spain) is mostly different in words with C and Z and is a soft “th” sound. And there are regional expressions that differ.

Yes the Latin American one is quite different from Spain one. My husband speaks Spanish too Latin American but when I learn mine in Spain he couldn’t comprehend quite alot.

Actually Ibeleive the Spain one is actually the proper one. However Latin American is mostyl spoken here. They are the same. It’s like the way Brit’s talk vrs the Americans. All the same. But I like Latin American better.
