the only advice i can give you is, choose only ONE of them and stick to that one until you know it really really really well. i speak perfect english and even though spanish is suppose to my mother language, i speak it well enought to communicate but to write correctly and know the technical words, i have no idea. so when i went to italy 4 years ago people kept on saying, ‘oh! well then it must be easy for you since you know spanish!’ but instead it was a big NOOOO… learning italian while you speak so so spanish makes it 10 x harder since you mix them up when you dont even notice it. it was hell learning the basics of italian, in fact i wished i didnt know spanish so it would all come clean and new to me not similar and mixed up.

plus there are like 5 or 6 words in the italian vocabulary that in spanish mean one thing but in italian something totally different. like for example, ‘prendere’ in italian means to get something, in spanish ‘prender’ means to turn on something like the lights. so its get really messy when you speak it. or another one is, ’salire’ in italian means to go downstairs, in spanish ’salir’ means to exit.

so my advice is to choose one and stick to that one for good until you know it well enough to go to the next one.

oh and also if i was to say which language is easier? i would say spanish for one reason. in spanish, saying a word in plural is like in english, you add an ’s’. in italian instead its a big mess. if its a masculin word, such as, ‘libro’ you change the ‘o’ to an ‘i’ and a feminine the ‘a’ to an ‘e’ and if the word ends in an ‘e’ its either one, you have to know. its a whole mess. spanish is easier!

Well, I agree with others Spanish and Italian ARE NOT same.

I am studying French and when I wanted to learn another European Language, I was thinking between Spanish and Italian. I chose Italian as it is SIMILAR to French. The grammar, some words and expressions. It was easier for me.

Spanish has totally different pronunciation and words.

But the question is that you have ti decide what you want to learn? Which language you love to hear…

Well, Spanish and Italian are not the same. You might start by taking a class in whichever of the two you choose. It’s best to get a teacher who is a native speaker. In the case of Spanish the “r” and “rr” sounds in Spanish are very difficult as are the “d” sounds for native English speakers. And some of the dipthongs are difficult for Americans from the north. So get a native teacher. Then after you have a bit of vocabulary go to a Spanish (or Italian) speaking country and live there at least six months. If possible get a live in lover from the local population so you can practice the language all day and night; even during ***. What can I say? It worked for me!

If you dont mind spending the money, I’m pretty sure you could go to your local community college and taking a couple of courses.

The internet is the best way, try searching for sites that teach you for free. I wanted to learn French and found: frenchtutorial.com, so there might be the same for Italian or Spanish.

if possible spend some time in a native country u will be so tired of not being able to understand u will learn it quicker

the best way is going to a country that speaks the language and stay there for a while. By the way Spanish and Italian are not the same, that is like saying cause I speak English I can speak German. Don’t be ignorant you can offend some people.
